Friday Photo: one of the Great Blue herons that Herons Landing is named for. I first time I ever saw one up close was when I was driving on Washington‘s Olympic Peninsula near where my Honeymoon Harbor series is set. It was standing in the middle of a gravel road in no hurry to let me pass. I was captivated and more than willing to sit there until it took off over the water. A couple days later, we saw a tree where several pairs had built huge nests and were feeding their babies. Which was the early seed for Herons Landing.
